Chennai: AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will file her nomination to contest the Assembly election from R K Nagar constituency on Monday. The remaining 233 candidates of AIADMK and alliance parties will file their papers before their respective returning officers on April 28.
Ms Jayalalithaa is expected to file her nomination papers around noon at the Zonal Office of Chennai Corporation in Tondiarpet on Monday, an auspicious, muhurtham day. She is expected to file her nomination a little after the noon since 10.30 am to 12.00 pm is yamakandam.
“Puratchi Thalaivi Amma will file her nomination on Monday from R K Nagar constituency,” said a tweet on the AIADMK’s official Twitter handle. In a departure from tradition, candidates of AIADMK and alliance parties will file their nomination on April 28 between 11.50 am and 12.20 pm instead of filing it on the same day.
It has been a practice in the AIADMK to file nominations on the same day Ms Jayalalithaa submits her papers while contesting assembly elections. The AIADMK and its chief always choose auspicious days for beginning party’s campaign and filing of nomination papers for candidates.
