Congress to field candidates in all 17 seats

Mr Khuntia said the BJP was attacking Mr Gandhi because he was afraid of the Congress chief.

Hyderabad: AICC General secretary and Congress affairs in-charge for Telangana state R.C. Khuntia on Sunday said that the party has decided to Contesting from all 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state without entering in alliance with any other party. Mr Khuntia said that the Congress was fighting for social justice and requested "secular" parties like the CPI, the CPM and the TJS to support it in its cause.

Speaking to media on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Khuntia said that all secular parties should support the Congress in the seats where they were not contesting. Condemning the comments made by Union minister Piyush Goyal, the AICC leader said that under the leadership of Mr Rahul Gandhi, the Congress came to power in four states. He said the BJP was attacking Mr Gandhi because he was afraid of the Congress chief.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has appointed former minister Dam-bhani Chandrasekhar as in-charge of Khammam LS constituency.

Two more leaders desert Congress

Delivering another blow to the defection-hit Congress, particularly the Komatireddy brothers, two senior leaders in Nalgonda district have resigned from the party in order to join the TRS.

Former Alair MLA Yadadri and District Congress Committee (DCC) president B. Bhikshamayya Goud on Sunday submitted their resignations. Mr Bhikshamayya Goud had contested from Alair Assembly constituency in the recent Assembly elections, but lost.

They duo attributed their decision to leave the party to protest against the leadership of the Komatireddy brothers. Mr Komatireddy Venkata Reddy is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Bhongir as Congress candidate. He had contested the recent Assembly elections from Nalgonda and lost.

Mr Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has announced that if his brother Venkata Reddy loses the elections, he would quit politics.
