Manalur hoepful for V M Sudheeran
THRISSUR: Though KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has opted out of the contest, Congress workers in his home constituency of Manalur here are hopeful. They very much feel that the Congress high command would put pressure on the veteran of many an election and if he is in the fray, it would add to the party's prospects in the district and the entire state.
“In the last local body elections, out of the ten grama panchayats in the constituency, LDF won nine. The LDF candidate got a lead of nearly 12,000 voters in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in this Assembly segment. The winning margin of Congress legislator P. A. Madhavan in 2011 was just 481. But the entire proposition and political equations will change if he contests from here,” P. K. Rajan, DCC secretary and former block president, told DC.
“As VM has taken a stand, normally it's hard for him to change. But, if the party high command wants him to contest, he could give in.” His association with voters here is so strong that cutting across the groups, the party men here say, if he contests, he will win by a margin of more than 10,000 votes.
