HD Kumaraswamy govt to blame for blaze: BS Yeddyurappa
Bengaluru: Opposition leader in the Assembly B.S. Yeddyurappa came down heavily on the state government for what he called a “lackadaisical” attitude which resulted in a major fire which gutted 300 cars at the parking area of the Aero India show on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Yeddyurappa said the defence ministry was responsible for holding the Aero show inside the air base. The parking, traffic and other arrangements were to be handled by the state government. The fire mishap has caused great loss, he said.
“It was shocking that the state government did not take any safety measures when terror activities are on the rise. Even for a small function, safety measures such as the deployment of fire tenders are taken. Surprisingly, not a single fire tender was stationed in the parking area. I would like to ask who gave NoC to the people who were in charge of parking facility and why no fire tenders were at the spot. If the government had taken precautionary measures, the accident could have been averted,” he said.
