KCR’s political moves will not impact Congress: Pawan Khera

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and the party’s head of media and publicity Pawan Khera appeared to disagree with the notion that the inauguration of the new Secretariat building complex, which is likely to be attended by Chief Ministers M. K. Stalin (Tamil Nadu), Hemant Soren (Jharkhand), and Tejashwi Yadav, deputy CM of Bihar, would hurt the Congress’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

His remarks are made in light of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s efforts to bring together leaders of national and regional parties to challenge the Modi administration at the federal level, which some political analysts believe could have an impact on the Congress’s political prospects in the upcoming elections.

“Stalin was the first CM to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra on the first day of the yatra. Everyone is allowed to meet with whomever they choose. The goal of our party is to bring India together. Anyone is welcome to join us or anyone else they choose,” he remarked addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, the party’s headquarters.

He took a swipe at Prime Minister , saying that Narendra Modi’s 18-hour working style was harming the country and that it would be preferable for him to continue sleeping for longer periods of time.

“He is causing more harm if he is awake. More sleep would be better for him,” he joked. The Congress leader remarked the Modi-led BJP government was focused on “forming the government” rather than “running the government”.

Responding to Rajnath Singh's remarks on Bharat Jodo Yatra that Rahul Gandhi’s mass contact programme was intended to spread the "politics of hate", the AICC leader remarked that the defence minister too wanted to participate in the yatra but he was scared of Modi.

“People are frustrated with this government, including Cabinet ministers and officials. How many CAG reports were made public under this government. This is the level of censorship. Even the collegium system of the Supreme Court is deteriorating,” he pointed out.
