Cong questions Govt decision to not celebrate R-Day at Parade grounds

Hyderabad: Describing the government decision to celebrate Republic Day at Raj Bhavan as unfortunate, Congress leaders said that the differences between Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Governor Tamilisai Soudararajan had led to belittling national festivals. PCC’s senior vice-president G. Niranjan felt that this was against the ethos on which the Indian Republic stood.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan said: “The Republic Day and Independence Day were celebrated on a grand scale at the Parade Ground. Irrespective of political issues, the presence fothe Governor and the Chief Minister would make the citizens proud and leave them reassured. Over the past few years, this has changed and it is not a good trend. When those who are at the helm indulge in this kind of behaviour, ultimately this would lead to anarchy.”
