AP spent Rs 48,900 crore for SCs and STs, claims YSRC MP Suresh

Vijayawada: The YSR Congress has said the state government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy spent larger funds for the SCs and STs under a sub-plan compared to the previous government.

Party MP Nandigam Suresh said the YSRC government spent Rs 48,900 crore in the past three and half years while the previous TD government spent only Rs 33,625 crore for these segments in five years.

Suresh said, “Chandrababu Naidu never worked for the development of SC and ST communities and diverted sub-plan funds during the TD’s five-year term. Sub-plan funds were diverted and used by Naidu for Polabadi, Chandranna Rythu Kshetralu, sanitary napkin kits, social security pensions, NTR Sujala Sravanthi, Chandranna Pelli Kanuka, NTR Udyonnati, Ma Inti Mahalakshmi, nutritional food for children, Anna Amrithastam etc, he said.

He alleged that welfare schemes did not reach real beneficiaries during TD term. In Jagan's government, government payments are going directly into the beneficiary accounts through DBT.

The MP said Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan never worked for the development of BCs, SCs, STs and the minority communities. Only one MLA was elected on JS ticket from the Dalit community but Pawan showed a reluctance to sit behind him and forced him to distance from the Jana Sena party.”

Suresh claimed that Pawan gave top priority to the upper classes. “Hence he is seating Nadendla Manohar by his side and his elder brother Naga Babu. Pawan is parroting Chandrababu Naidu words and working for the TD by reading Naidu’s script. Pawan does not have his own agenda. Nara Lokesh’s padyatra will not bring any change in TD,” he said.
