Hyderabad: The CBI special court here on Friday dismissed a petition filed by YSRC president and AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking personal exemption from the hearing of the Enforcement Directorate case filed against him. The court made it clear that Mr Reddy has to appear on trial day and adjourned the hearing to January 31. The court expressed dissatisfaction that Mr Reddy was filing exemption petitions on every trial day.

On Friday, Mr Reddy had filed a memo through his advocate seeking exemption from personal appearance. Allowing the plea, the court said that it would not allow such petitions every week. After he took oath as Chief Minister last year, Mr Reddy has appeared once before the CBI court. The court also heard the contentions of Mr Reddy in the discharge petitions filed by him in relation to the cases filed by the CBI. Mr Niranjan Reddy, counsel, submitted that Mr Reddy should be discharged.

The CBI court also agreed to frame charges against senior IAS officer Manmohan Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act, in relation to investments by Vanpic (Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Industrial Corridor) in companies owned by Mr Reddy.
