Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy gives Congress a scare
A meeting with his supporters scheduled for Friday at Kurnool was also cancelled, a Congress leader said.

Kurnool: The Congress decision of not entering into any political understanding with the TD has caused consternation among Congress leaders.
Keen on reviving the political fortunes of the party in Andhra Pradesh, former union minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy created a few tense moments among party workers when he hinted that he was going to shift loyalties.
A meeting with his supporters scheduled for Friday at Kurnool was also cancelled, a Congress leader said.
Both the TD and YSRC were said to be in touch with him as he was keen on fielding his son Raghavendra Reddy in the forthcoming general elections.
Political circles were abuzz with the sudden development of Kotla’s leaving the party.
A senior leader, who was in the know, said that a day before AICC in-charge Oomen Chandy had announced at Amaravati that Congress would not have any alliance with TD.
A heated debate had taken place over the fallout of such a decision. Kotla who attended the party’s disciplinary committee meeting expressed his resentment and had walked away from the meeting.
Congress loyalists close to Mr Reddy tried to pacify him but to no avail. Kotla was of the opinion that only with the support of the ruling TD government in AP the party could make a comeback.
Further, he was also not happy with the way the party high command was giving importance to Byreddy Rajase-khar Reddy in the district. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Kotla said that he was not leaving the party and any talk about his leaving the party was only mere “speculation and conjecture”. Mr Reddy commands a considerable swa-y over the electorate in the Kurnool constituency.
