Aspirants from Kadapa pin hopes on Chandrababu Naidu

While YSR Congress aspirants were seen heading to Hyderabad, Telugu Desam leaders were rushing to Amaravati.

Kurnool: Ticket aspirants in Kadapa, irrespective of parties, have been stepping up their efforts to convince the top leadership to confirm their nomination.

While YSR Congress aspirants were seen heading to Hyderabad, Telugu Desam leaders were rushing to Amaravati.

Against this background, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Kadapa on Friday assumes significance as it was expected that he will disclose his mind to the warring leaders.

Among the most contentious seats, Jammalamadugu has emerged as a knotty problem for the party. The seat is being held by C. Adinarayana Reddy, who defected from YSRC to TD and was made a minister in the Naidu Cabinet.

Party strongman P. Rama Subba Reddy, a former minister, had sought the seat for himself.

In the 2014 elections, Mr Rama Subba Reddy was defeated by a margin of 12,000 votes. He polled 88,672 votes while Adinarayana Reddy got 1,00,764 votes.

YSRC finds it tough to accommodate Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy, who had recently resigned from the Telugu Desam and was joining the YSR Congress on January 31.

YSRC district president Akepati Amarnath Reddy, who belongs to Rajampet, was expecting the seat.

With the new development, he was ready for a showdown with Mr Jagan, a source said.

Mr Chandrababu Naidu was keen to resolve the issues in TDP. Party’s district president Srinivas Reddy has been expecting Kadapa MP’s seat.
