Himachal LoP Alleges Cong. Failed to Fulfil Several Promises in State

Hyderabad: Himachal Pradesh former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Thursday said that the Congress had cheated the people of the state by not implementing the promises that it had made during the election campaign.

Thakur, Leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh, said that Congress leaders in Telangana were claiming that the party had fulfilled several promises in Himachal Pradesh. “The fact is that it has totally failed in the last one year in fulfilling the 10 promises. Same is the condition in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan,” said Thakur told reporters here on Thursday.

“The Congress in Himachal Pradesh has assured Rs.1,500 every month for women who crossed 18 years. Not even a single woman has received it. Ours is a power surplus state. It has promised 300 units for every house but the tariff has been increased,” Thakur said.

“The Congress promised to revive the old pension scheme but there has been no step in that direction. The new pension scheme is continuing. Congress can tell lies and run government. Do not trust it and falls in its trap,” said Thakur.
Coming down heavily against the BRS government, in Telangana, Thakur said that it was time to teach a lesson to the government being run by the father, son, daughter and son-in-law.

“All the departments are inflicted with corruption and Kaleshwaram is the biggest corruption. The BRS has made several promises but failed to implement them. People are feeling that BRS not only needs to be defeated but its leaders involved in corruption must be punished,” he said urging people to vote for a double engine government in Telangana.

Meanwhile, Union tribal welfare minister Arjun Munda alleged that the BRS government had not shown sensitivity towards the issues of tribal people. Speaking at an election campaign in Warangal on Thursday, he alleged that the BRS government in was making false promises and that injustice had been meted out to the tribal people.

If the BJP came to power in the state, all welfare schemes would be introduced and reach people for their benefit. The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre devised several schemes for Adivasis and were being implemented by providing funds.

Elsewhere, Union minister Piyush Goyal expressed the confidence that the BJP wluld come to power in Telangana and BRS would be defeated.

“The BRS came to power in Telangana with a promise of Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu but failed to implement them. Huge corruption has taken place in the projects. The future of Telangana is at risk. People were cheated and they are going to answer them with a vote. We have unveiled what we can do in the manifesto. People will vote for us and we will make BC CM in the state. Youth will stand with the party,” said Piyush Goyal while speaking to reporters here on Thursday.
