N Chandrababu Naidu to keep check on Khammam poll

It is learnt that Purchuru MLA Mr. Sambasiva Rao was asked to monitor the Khammam election.

KHAMMAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu is keen on the election campaign of Khammam where TD politburo member Mr. Nama Nageswara Rao is contesting. Mr. Naidu’s TDP workers are enquiring about the mood of the people and campaign module with the local leaders and some of the media persons.

The winning of Nama Nageswara Rao is crucial to the Telugu Desam and the presence of MLAs from the Kamma community in the next assembly is very much essential for the party. Mr. Rao is loyal to the party and there is no chance of him shifting his loyalties elsewhere. AP CM and top bosses of TD are predicting the win of Prajakutami in the elections. TD wants to play a major role in the State.

In case of Mahakutami coming to power, TD has a chance to ask for the Deputy Chief Minister’s post as its share. Mr. Nama Rao is one of the persons to safeguard the interests of TD in Telangana. As per the report that was tabled of Mr. Naidu in Amaravathi, the first three days’ campaign was not so impressive and the organisers are not working well. According to the report, there is no effort taken to involve the Congress’s second rung leaders in the campaign. The organisers are not careful in spending funds for the campaign either.

It is learnt that Purchuru MLA Mr. Sambasiva Rao was asked to monitor the Khammam election. Likewise, AP Minister for Irrigation Mr. Devineni Umamaheswara Rao was asked to look after the election of Sattupalli where Ms. Sandra Venkata Veeraiah was contesting. Mr. Devineni has visited Tiruvuru and enquired about the election campaign there. TD leaders of AP thought of sending Chintalapudi MLA Mr. C H Prabhakar to supervise elections of Aswaraopet. But some of the leaders brought the friendship between Tummala Nageswara Rao and Prabhakar to the notice of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu. Both leaders had land in Dammapet and Chintalapudi. With this, TD is considering sending another MLA for Aswaraopet.
