KARIMNAGAR: State Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy said that he and BJP leader Etala Rajendar had met at a resort to attend a function of Congress leader Vem Narendar Reddy, and made it clear that they met in the open, but not like the TRS and the BJP leaders who meet in dark.
It may be mentioned here that TRS working president and IT minister K. T. Rama Rao had alleged that Rajendar had met Revanth Reddy secretly, which became a hot topic in political circles.
Referring to the comments made by Rama Rao, Revanth Reddy said not only Rajendar, but leaders of various political parties also met on May 7 at Golconda Resorts. “Rajendar who met me to explain all foolish activities which Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is doing,” he added.
Revanth Reddy visited Huzurabad constituency and participated in the poll campaign in support of Congress candidate here in Veenavanka and Jammikunta mandals of Huzurabad constituency in Karimnagar district on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering in Veenavanka mandal, Revanth Reddy came heavily on the BJP and TRS. He alleged that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rao were “thieves” and were “robbing” the country and the state by deceiving the people. By increasing the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, Modi and Rao were “looting” the people, he said.
“The Chief Minister did not fulfil even a single promise he made to the people. He betrayed all sections of people and does not have any right to ask votes in Huzurabad,” he said.
Lashing out at finance minister T. Harish Rao, the TPCC chief asked the former to explain to the people how many double bedroom houses were given to homeless people in the state. “There are 18 members in the KCR’s Cabinet. Why then there is not even a single leader from the Madiga community? Are leaders of the Madiga community not eligible for the minister's post,” he questioned.
Rao and his family were known to meet the other party leaders in the dark, Revanth Reddy said, adding, that was why they poached many leaders of Opposition parties by negotiating with them in the dark.
“It is KCR and KTR who sent Rajendar out to join the BJP. They even arranged a meeting with Union minister G. Kishan Reddy in the dark. KTR must reveal to the people about the plane in which Kishan Reddy came to welcome Rajendar. Does KTR have the guts to disclose the facts to people? If he does not, then the Congress is ready to do so,” he said.
TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav was a dummy candidate, he said and added that Chandrashekar Rao was well aware of this and that was why he fielded Gellu in the by-poll race. Both the TRS and the BJP were playing gimmicks with the Huzurabad people, he alleged.
“It is the Congress which gave separate statehood status to Telangana and is the only party which is going to be an alternative to the TRS in the state. There is no competition for the Congress candidate Dr. B. Venkat Narasing Rao. He is going to register a thumping victory in the by-elections with the blessings of Huzurabad people,” he added.
