CBI punching bag for political rivals
Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is in the eye of the storm over alleged lack of trust among its top officers, has emerged as a punching bag for political parties in the Telugu states.
The YSRC, which got the worst out of the CBI, is now praising it for pursuing Rajya Sabha MP C.M. Ramesh. The TD said that the central agency was being “selectively unleashed” on political opponents.
The YSRC said that the ongoing developments in CBI are being viewed with concern and the manner in which a former CBI official showed his true colours by praising Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for relief work in cyclone-hit Srikakulam clearly shows his motives even while he was investigating the case of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
YSRC leader Vasidreddy Padma, speaking to media said that a section of the media which glorified the CBI and published the in-camera proceedings as well as when V.V. Lakshminaryana was investigating the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy assets case seems to have suddenly developed aversion towards the investing agency now.
The Rakesh Asthana issue involving top officers will take its own legal course but the way Telugu Desam leaders have been reacting, besides the timing of the former joint director’s statement shows that they are working in tandem with the single goal of “despise the opposition and praise the treasury benches unabashedly”, the YSRC leader said.
