Won't spare disruptors: Ramalinga Reddy

The government has been holding birth anniversary celebrations of 28 prominent personalities of the state and one of them is Tipu Sultan.

Bengaluru: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy warned on Monday that the government would not spare anyone, including BJP Union ministers, MPs and legislators, who tried to disrupt the Tipu jayanthi celebrations planned for next month.

“They have no business trying to disrupt a state-organised function. Going by protocol, the government will print the names of BJP elected representatives on the invitation cards and it is left them to attend or stay away. The government has been holding birth anniversary celebrations of 28 prominent personalities of the state and one of them is Tipu Sultan. The celebrations will be held in all 30 districts and 176 taluks of the state. Those who try to prevent them will not be spared,” he declared. Charging the BJP with trying to deliberately create a law and order problem in the run-up to the assembly polls, he told DC, “We are not going to allow this and will have security in place in all districts to ensure that the Tipu Jayanti celebrations pass off peacefully.”

Mr Reddy recalled that state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa, and senior leaders, Jagadish Shettar, R Ashok, MP P C Mohan and C P Yogeshwar had attended a Tipu function when the BJP government was in power in the state and Mr Shettar had even penned a foreword for a book on the Mysuru king.

“But now Union Ministers, Ananth Kumar and Ananthkumar Hegde do not want their names on the invitation cards to the Tipu celebrations,” he deplored.
