National BC Welfare Association Seeks Kavitha's Support for OBC Reservations

HYDERABAD: National Backward Classes Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah on Saturday met BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha to seek her support for the demand for providing reservations for OBCs in Parliament and state legislatures.

Krishnaiah said that leaders from all the Backward Castes communities in Telangana will hold a seminar on September 26 at Jala Vihar to discuss and finalise the strategy to step up pressure on the BJP-led government at the Centre for the introduction of a bill on reservations for the OBCs communities. Kavitha extended her support to the meeting.

Krishnaiah, a YSRC MP from Andhra Pradesh, hailed Kavitha's efforts which had led the Centre to introduce and secure the passage of the women's reservation bill in Parliament. He pointed out that Kavitha had launched an agitation for the legislation in March 2023 in Delhi.

They also discussed on the need for amending the bill to facilitate reservations for the BC community within the framework of women's quota.
