VIJAYAWADA: AP Brahmana Chaitanya Vedika (APBCV) has demanded that the state government cancel GO 103/2021 merging the AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation (APBWC) with BC Welfare Corporation.
APBCV state president Sirpurapu Sridhar Sarma regretted that even though YSRC government has formed Kamma, Reddy, Velama and Raju corporations for other upper castes, it has passed orders merging APBWC with BC Welfare Corporation.
He demanded that Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy intervene in the matter and cancel the merger order. He wondered why the government passed orders merging the Brahmin corporation with BC corporation, while leaving the other upper caste corporations to function independently. He said the move has hurt the sentiments of 75 lakh Brahmin population in Andhra Pradesh.
Sridhar Sarma recalled that Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his padayatra as leader of opposition, had promised establishment of Brahmin Welfare Corporation. Naidu started the corporation for Brahmins in 2016 after TD came to power. TD government also spent through the corporation Rs 310 crore for uplifting poor and middle class Brahmin families in all 13 districts of AP.
APBCV president recounted that since past two years, after YSRC came to power, it did not sanction any funds to APBWC. On top of it, the government has now passed orders merging their corporation with BC Welfare Corporation. He maintained that this is severely objectionable as the two corporations are ideologically contradictory.
Sridhar Sarma said Brahmin leaders Kona Raghupati, who is deputy speaker, and MLA Malladi Vishnu must intervene into the matter and get the GO cancelled. Otherwise, the Brahmin community will be forced to start state-wide protests, he warned.
