Huzurnagar assembly is N Uttam Kumar Reddy for Congress

The TPCC and the Congress Legislature Party will chart out the campaign strategy for the by-election.

Hyderabad: With the Election Commission issuing the notification for the Huzurnagar by-election today, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is doing its best to get the support of opposition parties and various organisations for this assembly by-election.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, for whom winning this seat is a prestige issue, met Communist Party of India state secretary Chada Venkatareddy, Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president Kodandaram, Telangana Telugu Desam president L Ramana and Inti Party president Cheraku Sudhakar, to request them to support the Congress in Huzurnagar.

TPCC sources said that the parties responded positively.

In the assembly elections held in December last year, all these parties had formed the 'Maha Kutami' and contested against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee leaders are also likely to solicit the support of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga. Mr Madiga had held a one-day Maha Deeksha protesting against the denial of a cabinet berth to the Madiga community. The Madiga community is well represented in the Huzurnagar assembly constituency and the Congress party would like to cash in on the rift between Mr Madiga and the TRS.

The TPCC and the Congress Legislature Party will chart out the campaign strategy for the by-election. Congress MLAs and TPCC officer bearers will be appointed in-charges, and TPCC senior leaders and All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries will campaign in Huzurnagar. The TPCC has already started a campaign on social media against the TRS government in view of the Huzurnagar assembly by-election.
