Siddaramaiah's Manadaalada maatu to counter PM Modi's Mann ki baath

Yes, pressure is mounting on the CM to speak on AIR at least twice a month to reach out to the rural masses of the state, sources add.

Bengaluru: If PM Narendra Modi is reaching out to people across the country with his “Mann ki baat” on All India Radio, CM Siddaramaiah could do the same soon, and reach out to people through his “Dil ki baat” or ‘Manadaalada Maatu’ as it being called, on AIR.

The idea is to make up for the lack of publicity his flagship schemes, tailored to help the poor and needy, have received, according to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office. With hardly a few months to go for the assembly polls, the CM has been told to do everything possible to bring back the Congress to power in Karnataka, they reveal.

“Yes, pressure is mounting on the CM to speak on AIR at least twice a month to reach out to the rural masses of the state. As Mr Modi regularly holds his 'Man ki baat' programme on AIR, Congress workers feel Mr Siddaramaiah too should speak to people of the state on the radio more often to connect with even those who are in remote corners of the state and explain what his government has been doing since 2013,” sources add. Congress leaders in Delhi too have reportedly advised Mr Siddaramaiah to take to the radio to reach out to voters in the run up to the coming Assembly poll. “As Mr Siddaramaiah is a good orator, it will be easy for him to connect to people. His speeches, laced with satire and humour, will be lively and keep people engaged,” explain CMO sources.

The KPCC media cell and CMO are reportedly working together on the idea, and could finalise it in the next couple of days. The party is also said to be considering reviving the hour long live interaction between the CM and the people on the radio, which was quite a hit in the past.

In more populist moves, Mr Siddaramaiah plans to hold his ‘Janata Darshan’ for a whole day once a week to receive petitions from people and solve their problems on the spot if possible.
