CHENNAI: In a bid to iron out the social and economic disparities between districts, Chief Minister M K Stalin asked all the 234 members of the Legislative Assembly to list out 10 long pending demands of the local people of their constituencies, prioritizing them on the basis of necessity, and submit it to the district collector in a fortnight.
Writing to all the MLAs on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said there could be certain local demands that had not been looked into for a long time as they could not be addressed through the implementation of the regular development schemes but should be addressed for the welfare of the people.
He urged the MLAs to identify 10 such needs and necessities of the people in their respective constituencies that could be related to drinking water supply, marketing agricultural products, medical facilities, education institutions like schools, colleges, improving business development, electric crematoria, libraries, integrated bus stands, developing or renovating tourist spots or anything and recommend them.
Through the effort, made under the expanded Rs 1000 crore ‘CM in your constituency’ scheme, which was announced in the Assembly on May 7 to mark the completion of one year by the DMK government, Stalin hoped that Tamil Nadu would become the Number One State in the country.
So, he sought the cooperation of all the MLAs, whom he said were interested in the improvement and development of their constituencies. As the people’s representatives, it was the bounden duty of the MLAs to understand the people’s needs and take efforts to fulfil them, he added.
