Muslims take out rally against Raja Singh
HYDERABAD: Reacting to Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh’s derogatory statements, thousands of protesters from the Muslim community from different parts of the Old City took out a protest rally from Chandrayangutta to the city police commissioner’s office at Basheerbagh around 1 am on Tuesday.
Raising slogans like “Police hosh me aao Raja Singh ko arrest karo (Arrest Raja Singh),” protesters from different areas joined the main rally.
South Zone deputy commissioner of police (DCP) P. Sai Chaitanya assured the protesters that a case would be booked against the MLA for making derogatory statements and hurting religious sentiments.
Raja Singh, a former Telugu Desam activist, after joining the BJP, got elected as Goshamahal MLA. Since then, he has made objectionable comments on social media and public meetings on several occasions, a senior police official said.
Apart from this, he posted similar statements on social media for which he was banned from a social media site two years ago as his speeches might disturb communal harmony, police sources said.
