Jagan Lays Foundation Stone for Construction of 50,703 Houses For Poor In Amaravati

YSRC leaders mock at TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for failing to stop construction of houses for poor in the capital city

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for the construction of 50,793 houses for the poor in Amaravati on Monday.
Taking to Twitter, the official YSR Congress party asked @nbcn and @JaiTDP to keep tissues in hand till the program is completed.

TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu had vehemently opposed the construction of the houses for the poor as the land was pooled for the construction of the capital city. Over 33,000 acres was pooled by the farmers with a hope that the capital would provide employment to their children and at the same time, fetch them good rate for their lands, as the entire place would get developed.

However, after the change in the government from the TD to the YSRC in 2019, the equation has changed and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who became the Chief Minister, proposed the three-capital formula, reducing the prominence of Amaravati. He revealed plans to make Vizag the executive capital and also announced that he would function from there. The entire matter landed in the court.

However, the YSRC government sought permission for construction of houses in the R5 zone in the capital region, stating that the poor were not being given due representation in the capital city of Amaravati to which the Supreme Court had given a nod.

Following the green signal from the apex court, the CM laid the foundation stone for the construction today.

Mocking at the TD for failing to make its goal a reality, the YSRC party leaders began posting even the images of the poor taking a view of a model house constructed at the site.

Jagan and Chandrababu Naidu had been bitter rivals since the former was lodged in jail following a complaint by Naidu over the heavy corruption by him, which led to amassing huge wealth, disproportionate to his known sources of income. Following the complaint, the CBI had lodged a case which is subjudice.
