BJP Dharna On 2 BHK at Indira Park Put Off Due to Rains

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Monday put off its protest at Indira Park scheduled for Tuesday at Indira Park to demand that the government distribute two bedroom houses , in view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

A fresh date for the programme will be announced later, the party said late on Monday evening. Earlier in the day, the Telangana High Court had directed the police to give permission to the party to hold the event.

The protest at Indira Park was to be the first major programme that was to be led by state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy. As a run-up to the protest in Hyderabad, the party held similar protests at the offices of district collectors at all district headquarters on Monday.

The party said despite the widespread rains, the protests saw participation by people in large numbers. Among those who took part in the protests was BJP national vice-president D.K. Aruna in Jogulamba Gadwal district, party in-charge for Madhya Pradesh P. Muralidhar Rao in Nalgonda, Huzurabad MLA and election committee chairman Etala Rajendar in Warangal, former MP A.P. Jithender Reddy in Narayanpet, party general secretary G. Premender Reddy in in Jangaon, Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri in Jagitial and Dubbak MLA M. Raghunandan Rao in Kamareddy.
