Etala credits statehood to martyrs, vows to help people

He said the leaders who were joining the TRS were doing it for the sake of money against the interest of people of their region

KARIMNAGAR: Telangana statehood was achieved with the sacrifice of around 1,200 people and not alone by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, said former minister Etala Rajendar during the fifth day of his Praja Deevena Yatra in Jammikunta of Huzurabad constituency on Friday.

Rajendar said he and other party workers were the owners of the TRS but not Chandrashekar Rao alone. The BJP leader said he did not get the posts at the mercy of Chandrashekar Rao, but he earned them with his hard work during the Telangana movement.

“The yatra is being held successfully and will continue in the coming days without any interruption. Public representatives from various districts are showing interest to participate in the yatra,” he said.

Speaking about the leaders who were changing their loyalties and joining the TRS, Rajendar said the leaders who were joining the TRS were doing it for the sake of money against the interest of people of their region and they would not have a political future, he said.

“Chandrashekar Rao tried to finish my political career with baseless allegations, but the people are with me. Whoever approached me for help, without seeing his caste and religion and political leaning, I helped people. By doing public service, I was able to garner love and affection from people,” he said.

The TRS and Chandrashekar Rao, depending on money, were trying to win byelections. The government was not giving pensions anywhere in the state, though it sanctioned pensions to 11,000 members. It was giving ration cards to the people of only Huzurabad constituency. People should not forget that all these were happening because of Etala Rajendar, he added.

Rajendar said Chandrashekar Rao never fulfilled the promise of making a Dalit Chief Minister of the state and he did not even implement the promise of giving three acres of land to poor Dalit families, but now making yet another promise of introducing of Dalita Bandhu scheme.

“This is also not because of affection for the people of Dalit community, but only for the sake of their votes. Chandrashekar Rao himself said whatever he did, he did only for the sake of votes but not for people and their welfare,” the former minister said.

“Unable to tolerate the leaders who are questioning him, KCR intentionally brought this unnecessary burden of election on the public. People should not tolerate such cheap tricks played by KCR and must teach him a fitting lesson. It is the BJP which is going to form the government after the 2023 Assembly elections,” he said.
