N Mahesh backs BJP, faces the wrath of Mayawati
Bengaluru: The Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has expelled the lone MLA in Karnataka assembly, N. Mahesh from the party for defying the whip issued to him by her.
Mr Mahesh was tasked to participate in the proceedings of the House and vote for the confidence motion moved by CM H.D. Kumaraswamy. However, Mr Mahesh defied Ms Maywati's order and abstained from the voting. No sooner has the process was than Ms Mayawati took to social media to announce her decision expelling from the BSP.
Mr Mahesh was a minister in the Kumaraswamy cabinet before he resigned ahead of the Parliament polls. He had then said that it was party supremo, Maywati's decision to come out of the cabinet so he followed her diktat. In the parliament election, the BSP did well in Chamaraja Nagar LS seat helping the BJP to win the seat by a narrow margin. Since then, he became close to BJP, sources in the BJP said.
