Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth should join us: AIADMK minister Sellur K Raju
Chennai: State Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju on Sunday dared actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the two top stars of Tamil cinema, to join the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, if they wished for the well-being of the people.
“If Rajini and Kamal really intend to do good to the people of the State, they should join AIADMK,” the Minister said. If Kamal points out to their mistakes after joining the AIADMK, they would be ready to rectify them.
“But the actor should not levy charges on us without proof and without entering politics,” Mr. Raju emphasised during a chat with reporters in Madurai.
Both Rajini and Kamal had expressed displeasure over the functioning of the Tamil Nadu government and hinted that they would enter politics. While Rajini said the system has become rotten and it should be changed, Kamal asked his fans and public to launch online complaints to the ministers concerned.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had dared the actor to join politics and said he would then give him a befitting reply. Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani too had challenged Kamal Haasan to prove the existence of corruption in the government and also asked if he was ready share the details of taxes paid for his movies. He had also threatened to probe the actor's tax history, to find evidence of wrongdoing.
On legislator Arukutty switching loyalties to the ruling AIADMK (Amma) group, from the rebel AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) camp he said, “This is just a beginning. Arukutty has come first. The rest too will join us soon.”
