CMP will be ready by Monday: M Veerappa Moily

Mr Moily clarified that the committee would not go into issues like administration.

Bengaluru: Former chief minister M. Veerappa Moily, who is heading the panel drafting the Common Minimum Programme of the coalition government, revealed here on Saturday that it could be ready by Monday. “We have circulated the first draft to everyone concerned and are likely to finalise it by Monday,” he told Deccan Chronicle.

Asked whether the Common Minimum Programme would be the new government’s magna carta on governance, Mr Moily clarified that the committee would not go into issues like administration. “The aim is to integrate the good programmes of the previous government with the poll promises of the Janata Dal (Secular) to create a balanced vision document for the next five years,” he explained.

On the waiver of farm loans, Mr Moily pointed out that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had already made it clear that his government intended to go ahead with it and the exact plan would be announced in the budget. “There are so many models before us as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and many other states have waived farm loans. We will study them and use the best for Karnataka. But we will not go back on the promise made by the Chief Minister,” he asserted.
