HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is switching gears fast to consolidate its vote banks by disbursing and implementing welfare schemes over the next few months, linking party outreach programmes with state government activities, in the run-up to the Assembly polls.
Over the next two months, the state government will distribute podu land pattas to tribal communities, extend Rs. 3 lakh financial aid to poor families under the Gruha Laxmi scheme for constructing houses, give Rs. 10 lakh to each Dalit family across the state under the second phase of Dalit Bandhu, distribute housing sites to the poor and give away sheep under the second phase of its scheme.
These schemes will be extended to beneficiaries in the presence of BRS leaders and workers in respective Assembly constituencies, who will seek the support of beneficiaries for BRS in Assembly polls.
BRS supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will lead the charge by taking part in podu lands patta distributions to beneficiaries in several districts from June 24 to 30.
The ruling party will also utilise the 21-day celebrations, from June 2 to 22, of the 10th Formation Day of Telangana to reach out to the people in all 119 Assembly constituencies and highlight the achievements of the BRS government in the past nine years.
BRS leaders and workers will participate in all the events that are scheduled to be held as part of the celebrations. Rallies, with beneficiaries of various welfare schemes of the BRS government, such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Aasara pensions, free power to agriculture, Kalyana Laxmi, Shaadi Mubarak, ration rice, residential schools, colleges etc., are also planned to be held.
Sources said that the BRS leadership feels that the party already enjoys strong support among the vote banks of beneficiaries of welfare schemes, such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, free power to agriculture and Aasara Pension, among others.
They said that the new schemes being implemented in the next two months will create a new vote bank for the party ahead of the Assembly polls.
