VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh government on Monday approached Supreme Court against National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) recent stay order halting works of the proposed tourism project atop Rushikonda Hills.

Presenting its argument, the government informed the apex court that all works at the Rushikonda site are being carried out without harming the environment in any way.

NGT had earlier ordered a probe into works taken up on the tourism project atop Rushikonda. The tribunal instructed the government to suspend works on the project until further orders, as a probe is on.

Following this, the state government has challenged the NGT order in the Supreme Court.
