Roshan Baig to MES corporators: Stop anti-state activities or else...
Belagavi: Expressing concern over the anti-Karnataka stand adopted by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig has warned them against resorting to acts which go against the state's interests.
At a meeting in Belagavi on Tuesday, Baig objected to Shiv Sena activists pelting stones at Karnataka buses and scribbling unfair slogans on them and said soon the state government will hold talks with the Maharashtra government on the issue.
Warning city corporators of Belagavi against indulging in anti-state activities, he said, the government will immediately terminate their membership if they are found doing so. The government has taken serious cognizance of several anti-state activities in which corporators were involved in the past, he said while reiterating that stringent action would be initiated against the culprits if such incidents were repeated. At a meeting in Belagavi, the minister said all city corporations in the state would be brought under a commissioner who would be shortly appointed by the government.
Making a sarcastic comment on BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa, Baig said he could not stop laughing when he heard that Yeddyurappa ate idlis brought from a hotel during his visit to a dalit family in Chitradurga. Was it because he did not like food prepared in a Dalit's house, he asked, adding that Yeddyurappa wanted only hotel food whenever he visited Dalits’ houses.
