With his track record as an excellent legislator, all eyes are on V S Sunil Kumar
Thrissur: V. S. Sunil Kumar, the gutsy youth leader of CPI, is the son of a toddy tapper and a native of Anthikkad, which is considered as a bastion of the party in Thrissur district. As an MLA, he holds the credit of presenting the highest number of adjournment motions for the LDF in the last assembly. This is his third consecutive term in the House.
Mr Kumar is a former AISF national secretary and has held various positions in the party. He headed the assembly assurance committee in the last assembly.
Born on May 30, 1967, to Subramanyan of Velichappat and C. K. Parvati, he studied at Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, and Law Academy, Thiruvananthapuram.
He is presently the state executive committee member of the party. He was first elected to the assembly from erstwhile Cherpu constituency in 2006 and Kaipamangalam in 2011.
He is known for his successful agitation and legal battle against the move of a Malappuram-based realtor to reclaim Chandippulipadam, one of the largest reservoirs of rainwater in Thrissur Corporation when V. S. Achuthanandan was the chief minister. He is also a regular face on television and is a petitioner in the bar bribe case.
