A lawyer, K Raju will now advocate Kerala's cause
Thiruvananthapuram: Advocate K. Raju won from Punalur constituency for the third time. He began his political life as an AISF activist. Son of late G Karunakaran and Pankajakshi, Raju did his graduation in political science from St' Johns College Anchal and Law from Government Law College.
He started practice under Advocate N Rajagopalan Nair at Punalur bar and has been a practising lawyer for the past 35 years. Raju has held various positions in AIYF. He was mandalam secretary of CPI for 12 years . At the moment he is the state council member of the party .
At the age of 25 he became member of Eroor grama panchayat. Subsequently, he won from Kulathupuzha division in district panchayat. Raju defeated M V Raghavan by 7925 votes in Punalur in 2006 Assembly polls, in 2011 he defeated Johnson Abraham by margin of 18,500 votes. He is married ot D Sheeba , retired Superintending Engineer and has two sons Ritwik Raj and Nithin Raj.
