Ramesh Jarkiholi won’t quit Congress: Dr G Parameshwar

It is a lie that unhappy Congress legislators will join the BJP. We will address their problems.

Bengaluru: Downplaying Congress MLA, Ramesh Jarkiholi's decision to resign, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr G Parameshwar on Tuesday said he did not know why he planned to quit, but he and KPCC president, Dinesh Gundu Rao would convince him not to make any hasty move.

Speaking to reporters here, Dr Parameshwar acknowledged that Mr Jarkiholi had announced his intention to quit after voting during the day, but maintained that the party would change his mind. "The party had made him a minister and also put him in-charge of Belagavi district. He was removed from the ministry on certain issues, but the party is ready to give him a suitable position. If removing him from the council of ministers is the sole reason for his dissatisfaction, we will talk to him and persuade him not to go," he added.

On the BJP predicting the fall of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state, Dr Parameshwar said many BJP leaders were dreaming about becoming ministers and Chief Minister, but the coalition government was strong and would not fall at any cost. "It is a lie that unhappy Congress legislators will join the BJP. We will address their problems. In fact, there are several unhappy legislators in the BJP and so there is no threat to the present government," he added.
