Delay in candidate selection hits Amit Shah's DK strategy
Mangaluru: Delay and confusion in fielding of candidates has been the undoing of BJP national president, Amit Shah's new strategy to fight the Karnataka polls based on the party’s success stories in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Tripura.
While Mr Shah had given party workers a '20 point programme,' to follow, which included appointment of a Panna Pramukh, in charge of a page of the the voters’ list, a Shakti Kendra Pramukh, a chief for every five booths and so on, the delay in fielding of candidates has left workers in disarray.
“To be honest the task given by Mr Shah has not been completed. In some places Panna Pramukhs have been appointed and in others they have not. The progress is about 50 to 60 per cent," said a BJP leader, explaining, "Although importance was given to the 20 point programme initially, the process almost stopped when there was delay in fielding of candidates. Now we cannot re-start it as there is no time and everyone is busy campaigning."
While Mr Shah's programme may have hit a road-block, party leaders are hopeful they will do well with help from the Sangh Parivar.
“Sangh Parivar leaders are campaigning for the BJP in their own fashion. We hope this will help the party,” a leader added.
