Chennai: The AIADMK lashed out at the DMK working president MK Stalin for his remark that the Edappadi K. Palanisami government is a “benami regime” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and said he was making such a remark only to gain political mileage.
Willing to sacrifice finance portfolio:
On the demand from the OPS group that the finance portfolio, now held by him, should be given to former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, if the factions merge, Jayakumar replied he was ready to give up all portfolios after getting the nod from Mr. Palaniswami. “I am willing to sacrifice all portfolios held by me for the betterment of the party and for the party’s unity, after getting the approval of Chief Minister Palaniswami,” he said.
On senior DMK leader Duraimurugan’s comment that the AIADMK government would dissolve in six months, he said the DMK would not be able to come to power in the state even after 60 years. “Forget six months... even after 60 years, the DMK will not be able to form the government. After completion of four year rule, we will face the elections again and form the government,” Mr. Jayakumar said.
