Sarath Kumar back in AIADMK camp
Chennai: In another setback to the BJP in Tamil Nadu, actor-politician R. Sarath Kumar, who had pledged his support to the party, made a volte-face and rejoined the ruling AIADMK combine on Wednesday.
The founder of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK), Sarath Kumar had met Union minister Prakash Javadekar on February 28 and joined the NDA. He announced Wednesday that he was joining the AIADMK front after apparently receiving a phone call from AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. It was a double whammy on the day for the saffron party, now rendered friendless on the eve of the Assembly polls.
Speaking to reporters, the actor said he had decided to align with the ruling party. When asked about his party joining the NDA, the AISMK chief said his cadres thought joining with the AIADMK was “the best decision.”
