Chandrababu Naidu lacks character and credibility: Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

YSRC chief accuses Naidu of trying to gag the voice of the Opposition.

Nellore: YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in what seemed like a diatribe against Chandrababu Naidu, said that the Chief Minister lacked two qualities essential to succeed in politics: character and credibility.

Mr Naidu’s character was evident in the manner in which he backstabbed his father-in-law, NTR, the founder president of the Telugu Desam, and he lost his credibility entirely when he went back on his poll promises, antagonising farmers, women, students and youth and all sections of people.

Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was addressing a well attended meeting, organised to mark the joining of former Congress leader Anam Vijayakumar Reddy, his son Karthikeya Reddy and his followers in YSR Congress.

Adding that he believed in people and God, not leaders, he thought that Chandrababu Naidu would have to pay a heavy penalty for his misdeeds.
Reaffirming the YSR Congress’s resolve to be the voice of the people whose support it had, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu was trying to gag the voice of the Opposition by luring MLAs from other parties.

The joining of Mr Vijayakumar Reddy sh-ows the mood of the people and reflects the popularity of the party. The eight MLAs, who had left the party and fell prey to the bait of Chandrababu Naidu and his ill-gotten wealth, do not deserve even to be talked about.

“My mother and I were the only two who quit from the ruling party and went to the people who gave us a thumping mandate. Today we have won 67 MLA and nine MP seats with the blessings of the people and what we need is not characterless leaders who switch loyalties, but the people and their mandate,” he added.

“I am ready to fight it out with Chandrababu Naidu with your support. I feared none. I did not fear Sonia Gandhi who, along with Chandrababu Naidu, had foisted false cases against me,” Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy recalled.
