Other ID cards allowed for MLC polls: Election Commission
Vijayawada: The Election Commission has issued an order stating that all the electors should produce EPIC card or any other document to establish their identity in the AP Legislative Council polls from the teachers’ constituencies on March 14.
The EC made it clear that those who were issued EPIC should produce it when they arrive at polling stations. They would also be allowed to produce any other valid document to prove their identity.
The alternate documents are the Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN card, Indian passport, service identity card, official identity card issued to MPs, MLAs and MLCs, service identity card issued by educational institutions, certificate of degree/diploma issued by the university in original and certificate of physical handicap issued by a competent authority in its original.
In AP, two teachers’ constituencies including East-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur are up for polls.
On Tuesday alone, eight independents and one nominee from BSP filed their notations from East-West Godavari constituency and 10 independents and one from the National Nava Kranthi Party filed their nominations from Krishna-Guntur constituency.
