Emulate Prayagraj for T Narasipur Kumbh Mela: HD Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru: Directing officers to make permanent arrangements for Kumbh Mela, scheduled to be held at T Narasipur (near Mysuru) next month, Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday, asked them to emulate Prayagraj in terms of facilities provided for devotees during the festivities.
Addressing a meeting organised at Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Math here, Mr Kumaraswamy said that over Rs 350 crores were spent on facilities for devotes at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh recently. Officers of the state government could visit Prayagraj to gather information on arrangements made and secure adequate funds from the state government. During the last Kumbh Mela in 2016, government had released Rs four crores, but Rs 2.5 crores remained un-utilised. This year, the estimation is Rs 3.5 crores, but could go up, he said adding his government would not tolerate shoddy preparations for this mega event.
"Whether some people believe in god or not, there is some unknown spirit beyond our reach. This Kumbh Mela should happen in a big way, and we should receive copious rain and a bumper harvest. Since our people cannot visit Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, it was started in T-Narasipura in 1989. Those who come to this Kumbh Mela should bless us," Mr Kumaraswamy added.
