Kerala: CPM to hold PM Narendra Modi's public trial tomorrow
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM will conduct a mock public trial of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in all 14 districts on January 25 to protest against the demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes. Centre;s decision has heaped miseries on the people, the party said. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the agitation in Thiruvananthapuram while veteran leader V.S. Achuthanandan will lead the stir in Pathanamthitta district. CPM is organising the agitation to demand immediate roll back of the restrictions imposed on withdrawal of money from banks.
Besides, it has also opposed Centre's move to impose cashless mode on the people. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan called upon people to join the protests in big numbers to send out a clear message to the Modi Government. He said the demonetisation decision was aimed at helping corporate and added it had adversely affected the economy. The CPM state committee has also decided to intensify the struggle in the second phase by organising peoples collective in 2,000 centers in February to protest against the Centre's anti people ration policy.
