TRS party ZPTCs boycott ZP meeting in Mahabubabad

Warangal: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) ZPTCs boycotted the general body meeting of the Zilla Parishad in a protest against the Zilla Parishad chairperson Angotu Bindu on Tuesday.

They said she was showing discrimination in allocation of funds to their respective mandals in Mahabubabad district.

The TRS party ZTPCs came for the meeting, but did not enter the meeting hall and staged a protest outside. Minister Satyavathi Rathode, MP M Kavitha and MLA B Shankar Naik unsuccessfully pressed them to call off the boycott.

The ZTPCs alleged that ZP chief Bindu was misusing the ZP funds and not judiciously allocating them to all the mandals. Of the total funds available, she had the gumption to allocate about 60 per cent to her own mandal, Bayyaram, they alleged.

“She is not allocating even the remaining 40 per cent of funds in a just manner and instead showing discrimination against some of the ZPTCs,” they alleged.

They said that several mandals in the district are lagging behind in terms of development, due to lack of allotment of funds.

Meanwhile, the Mulugu Congress MLA Seethakka, who attended the meeting, expressed ire over the internal fighting among the TRS party public representatives. She said that it was after covering a long distance that she came for the meeting to seek some funds for developmental works in the two mandals of Mahabubabad district, which falls under the Mulugu assembly segment.

“But the TRS party ZPTCs boycotted the meeting. This is not a good sign. They must have discussed matters with senior leaders before the meeting started and sorted out the problems. Instead, they wasted precious time,” she said and urged the officials to reconvene the meeting at the earliest.
