Hyderabad: Excise gets tougher this poll season
Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Assembly elections deputy commissioner of excise and prohibition issued instructions to deal with the complaints on excise crime promptly. The excise officials started a special drive from Monday. The habitual offenders in the illegal businesses will be booked under the PD act.
Deputy commissioner of prohibition and excise, Hyderabad, C. Vivekananda Reddy instructed all the constituency-wise nodal field officers from the excise department to ensure strict compliance of the rules by retail shops, bars, toddy shops and others. They have also been instructed to deal with cases of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal storage, transportation and sale of liquor, sale of ganja and other narcotics with an iron hand.
“We have given clear instructions to all the officers on handling of complaints and its redressal mechanisms. We have also established a control room till December 13 which will be functional round the clock. All habitual offenders who are still in the illegal businesses will be detained under the PD Act,” added Reddy.
