Bandi seeks rescue of youth trapped in Cambodia

The six youth, hailing from Karimnagar district, had gone to Cambodia in search of jobs by paying ₹2L each to a Karimnagar-based consultancy

Warangal: BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar has written to ministry of foreign affairs to rescue six youth who have got stranded in Cambodia after being lured there by a cybercrime gang from China.

The six youth, hailing from Karimnagar district, had gone to Cambodia in search of jobs by paying ₹2 lakh each to a Karimnagar-based consultancy. The youth – Nadeem, Siabaaz Khan, Saleem, Hajibaba, Sultan and Sharukh Khan – had been offered jobs as computer operators. However, they ended up doing menial jobs and were forced to get involved in anti-social activities too.

On coming to know about their plight, Sanjay, who is an MP from Karimnagar, has written to the foreign ministry as well as the Indian Embassy to get them back to India. The six youth had gone to Cambodia on tourist visas.

Seeking rescue of their children, parents of the youth have also lodged a complaint with police commissioner V. Satyanarayana on September 19.

Police have registered a case and are investigating. It is learnt that in all, Karimnagar-based consultancies have sent 16 youth to Cambodia in the past few months. Police are trying to find details of the remaining youth.
