Tamil Nadu BJP protests against DMK over wall space

The other venues for the protests were Ambattur, Saidapet, Chennai Collector’s Office, Anna Nagar Arch and Tondaiarpet

Demanding action against the DMK cadre involved in the skirmish over painting slogans on the surface of a compound wall at Nanganallur on Monday, the Tamil Nadu BJP organized protests at seven places in Chennai, led by various party functionaries, on Tuesday.

At the protest in Nanganullur, a 67-year-old intruder who suddenly raised a discordant slogan demanding the promised Rs 15 lakh from the BJP government at the Centre, was beaten up by the party men.

Police rescued the man who was standing amidst the BJP slogan shouters and took him to the Palavanthangal police station, where the man, identified as Durai, said that he did not belong to any political party and just wanted to know what happened to the election promise of paying Rs 15 lakh into the account of everyone in the country.

In Peravallur, the protestors, led by Sumathi Venkatesan, were taken into police custody and later released. The other venues for the protests were Ambattur, Saidapet, Chennai Collector’s Office, Anna Nagar Arch and Tondaiarpet.

On Monday, BJP members had fought with DMK cadre when both the groups used the same wall to paint slogans. It is alleged that the DMK had painted its slogan over the messages painted by the BJP in connection with the Prime Minister’s birthday.

So members of the BJP, men and women, gathered there to whitewash the DMK’s slogans on the wall which led to the fight. Police personnel had a tough time separating the two warring groups.
