Rebels did not quit for the greed of power: AH Vishwanath

With disqualification case coming up in top court today, rebels hoping for stay?

Mysuru: Disqualified JD(S) MLA Mr A.H. Vishwanath said that the disqualified MLAs need not be too worried about the announcement of the byelections to their constituencies as they had followed the guidelines of the Supreme court while resigning adding that he was hopeful that they would get justice in the Apex Court hinting at a stay on the disqualification till their case was decided.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday. Mr Vishwanath said, "The decision taken by former Assembly Speaker Mr Ramesh Kumar to disqualify us was not right. We resigned not for the greed of power but against ‘cheap’ political tactics. The statement by Mr Siddaramaiah and Sa Ra Mahesh that we sold ourselves is not correct. My family has been into agriculture for five generations and is involved in paddy sales. Our family had given land to students of the Kuruba community," he said.

He added, "I agree that Mr H.D. Deve Gowda (JD-S supremo) had helped me. And people of the state know who tried to finish off the Deve Gowda family (politically),"

He also questioned former chief minister Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy wondering where were all those who had once surrounded him including former MP Mr L.R. Shivaramegowda who was made MP by spending Rs 40 crores, for a tenure of just four months in Mandya.

Continuing his diatribe against the JD(S) leadership, Mr Vishwanath said former minister Mr G.T. Devegowda who trounced former Chief Minister Mr Siddaramaiah, should have been given a respectable position. “He should not have been given higher education department, in fact I had supported him in the assembly session," Mr Vishwanath said
