MP from TTV camp backs Edappadi Palaniswamy
CHENNAI: In a major setback to rebel AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran, party’s Lok Sabha MP from Tenkasi M .Vasanthi on Friday jumped the ship by joining the camp led by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Immediately after meeting Palaniswami, the MP made a blistering attack on Dhinakaran alleging that he has “aligned” with archrival DMK to topple the AIADMK Government established by late Jayalalithaa.
She also said the Government led by Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam would take forward the “good work” left by Jayalalithaa and accused Dhinakaran of “imprisoning MLAs supporting him” at a resort in Coorg in Karnataka.
“Is it fair on the part of Dhinakaran to say that he will send this government packing after aligning with the DMK? He has been repeatedly saying this and as a loyal AIADMK worker, we don’t like such statements. All 1.5 crore cadre of the AIADMK are upset with such statements,” she said, adding that late Jayalalithaa worked selflessly for the people.
Vasanthi had met Dhinakaran after he came out from Tihar Jail on bail in June and has been in his faction since then. She told reporters on Friday that she was not happy with Dhinakaran’s actions to destabilize the government that was installed by Jayalalithaa.
“Doesn’t he know that this government was established by Amma? We know how much Amma suffered to retain power. This government will continue to carry forward the legacy of the late leader,” she said.
Vasanthi jumping the ship from TTV camp comes a week after Cumbum MLA S T K Jaggaiyan meeting Speaker P Dhanapal and telling him that he would take back the letter submitted to Governor withdrawing support to Chief Minister Palaniswami.
