Sangh Parivar to help BJP's power push in Telangana

HYDERABAD: The BJP will bring into play its Sangh Parivar muscle for the coming Assembly elections with the RSS, ABVP, and other arms of the broad Sangh family taking an active part in pushing the BJP towards power in Telangana state.

Top state BJP leaders, including party state president G. Kishan Reddy, former state president and BJP national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar, senior party leader and BJP Parliamentary Board and Rajya Sabha member Dr K. Laxman, along with the BJP’s national organisational general secretary Sunil Bansal, who is also looking into Telangana state party affairs, on Tuesday met with leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological mentor of the Sangh Parivar.

The meeting discussed ways and means by which the BJP can make its moves as it seeks to dethrone the BRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the elections to be held towards the end of this year. Among the issues discussed at the meeting were the possible shape of the BJP manifesto for the coming elections, as well as several likely candidates for the party. The meeting also saw RSS leaders make some suggestions on how the BJP should go about its campaign and some of the issues it should talk about.

Though the BJP claims publicly that it has no dearth of candidates for the coming elections, recommendations from the Sangh Parivar outfits is expected to play an important part in candidate selection, party sources said. “It is not just the RSS. There is the student wing of the ABVP, VHP, the BMS, and the BKS. Each of them have their dedicated and committed members just as the BJP, the political arm of the Sangh Parivar, has. Each of them will join in the efforts to work for a BJP victory,” a BJP leader said.
