Denied ticket, Station Ghanpur MLA Rajaiah bursts into tears in front of cadre

Warangal: Former deputy chief minister and Station Ghanpur BRS MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah burst into tears in front of the party cadre at a meeting he had with BRS leaders. The incident happened at the MLA camp office in Station Ghanpur here under Jangaon district on Tuesday.

Rajaiah was the only sitting MLA from erstwhile Warangal district, who was not allotted the party ticket. His opponent, MLC Kadiyam Srihari, won the party ticket.

When the list was announced by KCR on Monday, MLA Rajaiah was shocked. He was expecting his name in the list. He did not meet his followers and even switched off his mobile phone.

On Tuesday, on a request from his followers and the BRS party cadre, Rajaiah met the BRS party leaders at the MLC camp office in Station Ghanpur.

When his followers tried to console him and some of them wept, Rajaiah too could not control his emotions and burst into tears in front of them. He went and bowed before the BR Ambedkar statue and touched its feet.

Rajaiah said the CM has promised him a better and higher post. Respecting the words of the BRS chief, he decided to remain with the party.

“I am not going to cross the line drawn by the CM. I will strictly follow his instruction and will play a key role in the victory of the BRS party,” he said.

Rajaiah had contested on TRS/BRS tickets in the 2014 and 2018 assembly elections and won with a huge majority against his rivals. It is not clear why he was denied the party ticket this time.
