Many Telangana leaders were ignored in Andhra Pradesh, says KCR

Telangana government is trying to ensure that future generations read about stalwarts from state, says KCR.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday said that many stalwarts from Telangana did not get due recognition in united Andhra Pradesh and that the Telangana government is trying to ensure that future generations read about them.

Speaking in a public meeting after laying a foundation stone for Reddy’s hostels at Budvel on Tuesday evening on the occasion of 139th birth anniversary of Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy, Mr Rao said the present generation knew about the achievements of Raja Bahadur only because Suravaram Pratap Reddy wrote a book on him in 1939.

“KPHB Colony was built by Dharma Reddy, when he was the housing minister in the combined state. Bhagyareddy Varma sought reservations in local bodies in the erstwhile Hyderabad even before Dr B.R. Ambedkar had made such a demand. Many such contributions made by our leaders were ignored,” he rued.

Mr Rao announced the allotment of an additional five acres of land, apart from the earlier 10 acres to Reddy Society for the construction of hostels (boys and girls), career coaching centre, convention halls, indoor sports complex and an agriculture farm.
