KCR refused to listen to expert advice on Kaleshwaram: Etala

The BJP MLA from Huzurabad, said it was unfortunate that Telangana does not have a full-time minister for irrigation

HYDERABAD: Former minister Etala Rajendar on Friday said the flooding of two pump houses of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme was a result of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao not heeding advice from engineers during their design and construction.

Taking part in a round table conference on the aftermath of the Godavari floods that wreaked havoc in several districts, Rajendar, BJP MLA from Huzurabad, said it was unfortunate that Telangana does not have a full-time minister for irrigation with the Chief Minister holding on to the portfolio.

The responsibility for what happened to the pump houses, and the floods, lay squarely with the Chief Minister, Rajendar said, adding that Rao refused to listen to advice from engineers on the project which led to the present situation.

He said that at least now, the Chief Minister should seek advice from experienced engineers to protect the Kaleshwaram project.
